Ted L. Mann

Ted L. Mann's life and career are rooted in Alabama. A native of Opelika who spent later childhood in Gadsden, Ted’s commitment to advocacy started close to home — his first client was his mother.

While representing his mom, Ted witnessed firsthand the complicated challenges individuals and families face following a catastrophic injury, and he learned how much it mattered to have someone stand up for her when the system felt overwhelming. Now based in Birmingham, Ted has carried that lesson into every case, treating each client with the same respect, determination, and relentless care he showed his first.

Over the past four decades, Ted has tried more than 100 jury cases and secured recoveries exceeding $500 million for over 7,500 clients — building a reputation as one of Alabama’s most trusted personal injury attorneys. With a practice extending beyond state lines to Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, and beyond, notable achievements include serving as lead trial lawyer in the largest wrongful death verdict in St. Clair County, Alabama history resulting in a $6,500,000 verdict. He also tried the largest slip/fall verdict in Macon County, Alabama history for $2,600,000 and obtained one of Macon County’s largest commercial truck accident verdicts for $3,300,000. As lead counsel of a national class action against Life Insurance Company of Georgia, Mann & Potter recovered in excess of $30,000,000 for class members.

Outside of the courtroom, Ted has been married to his wife Venita for 41 years, and they are proud parents to Lacey and Tom Woodroof, and Liz and Nate Mann, and Lotti the Would-Be Lapdog. Ted remains active in his community in Birmingham and enjoys spending time outdoors on his farm — most notably for a sunset sit in David's Pine Field.
